About Chad Michael Ward

Chad Michael Ward is a critically-acclaimed artist, photographer and filmmaker with over 15 years of experience shooting musicians, celebrities and pretty faces in the urban wilds of Los Angeles.

Ward began his long career in the industry in the late 90s as an album cover artist, designing covers for European metal acts such as Soilwork, Crest of Darkness, Darkane and Naglfar.

In 2002, Ward transitioned into photography, lending his lens to bands like Combichrist, gODHEAD, Fear Factory and more.

In 2004, Ward brought his unique vision to rocker Marilyn Manson, photographing and designing the rocker’s “Best Of…” album “Lest We Forget” and the music video for the single “Personal Jesus”.

In 2006, Ward moved into the world of music videos, directing for a variety of musicians including Billy Idol, Slash and Derek Sherinian.  Ward also contributed art covers to book series like Jonathan Maberry’s “Rot and Ruin” trilogy and L.J. Smith’s “The Vampire Diaries”, “Secret Circle” and “The Hunger Games”.

In 2007, Ward joined the film industry as a still photographer and production designer working on several high-concept genre films before returning to the music video world.

More recently, Ward can be found photographing and directing some of the hottest up-and-coming rock acts including Black Veil Brides, Motionless in White, Get Scared, Davey Suicide and Aiden as well as legendary artists including Berlin’s Terri Nunn and actress-singer Fairuza Balk.

His unique portrait and fashion portfolio has made Ward one of the more sought-after talents in the industry with work appearing in numerous galleries, magazines and books. Ward’s work has also been collected into several monographs including Black Rust, Autopsyrotica, DevilEngine, Dangerous Beauties Storyteller and Storyteller: NUDE.

Ward recently wrapped his first feature film, Strange Blood, which was released in April 2015.
